How It Works
The artist strives to create intensely personal portraits. Ideally, several images are submitted, in different lighting conditions and poses, along with information about the subject, such as his or her personality, individual characteristics, favorite pastimes, hobbies or toys, so that both character and individuality may be instilled into the portrait, making it truly unique.
As an example, Sterling, featured below, loved to sit in the afternoon sun in his yard, keeping track of the comings and goings of his neighbors. A special feature of his yard was the beautiful old ginkgo tree which displayed, and then shed, intensely gold leaves in the fall. Those actual leaves were scanned in to embellish his portrait.
